Josep Torres Clavé Chair

In 1934 the architect Josep Torres Clavé designed the GATCPAC or Torres Clavé armchair as part of the furniture that was to house the Spanish Republic Pavilion, designed by Josep Lluís Sert at the 1937 Paris International Exposition.
The chair was exhibited alongside works from Pablo Picasso's Guernica, Alexander Calder and Joan Miró.
The design is inspired by traditional Ibizan stalls. The curve of the armrests giving the chair a light and beautiful line. This piece has become an iconic piece of Spanish design.
Made in wood and hand braided natural fiber rope.
In good original condition with a beautiful patina.
